Tibet Everest Base Camp
Trekking |
 |
|
|
TIBET, Everest Base Camp trek is a popular
trekking route in Tibet and the mere thought of
Everest Base Camp nestled just a few kilometers
away at Rongbuk is enough to heighten any
trekker's adventurous spirit. Most of the time
you will walk on a plateau over 4300m, even you
will cross over one pass Nam-la 5300m, so this
trekking route is a really difficult
high-elevation, however, because of the
high-altitude, it offers a splendour views of
north face of Everest and other snow mountain
peaks around.
In this trek from Tingri to the Everest base
camp, you traverse along the centuries old
nomadic territories, fortified villages, alpine
valleys, nomadic settlements, barley fields and
succession of glaciated mountain passes. You are
sure to get mesmerized by the surreally sculpted
Rongbuk glaciers, on our way up to the Everest
Base Camp.

start with a guided tour of
Kathmandu's historical and
spiritual key attractions;
including the historic Kathmndu
Durbar Square, the famous
'Monkey Temple' (Swayambunath)
and then finally visit to Patan
Durbar square which is situated
the heart of the city
constitutes the focus of
visitor's attraction. In the
evening there will pre-trip
discussion where you can meet
your group leader and checking
equipments, final preparations,
packing, Tibet visa and other
necessary document for Saga dawa
festival trip.
DAY 03: Kathmandu drive to
Kodari and Zhangmu: After
official procedure we, drive
towards Nepal/Tibet border up to
the Friendship Bridge through
Arniko Highway. Our tour guide
will be waiting for you at
Friendship Bridge. After
completing the border
formalities at both the Nepalese
and Chinese immigration then
continue drive onto Nyalam.
DAY 04: Rest day at Nyalam
for acclimatization: Our
second day is a day for you to
rest and enjoy Nyalam. We must
properly acclimatize before we
move on. You can also explore
the small temple Milaripa Cave
near by this small town.
DAY 05: Drive to Tingri:
This day is another amazing
driving day as we view the sharp
contrast of lush lower hills to
the barren landscape of the
Tibetan Plateau. Along the way
we will cross Lalung La pass,
where views of Everest and much
of the Himalayan range are first
seen. Tonight we will stay in
the small town of Tingri.
DAY 06: Trek to Lungthang:
Our trekking adventure
begins today as we make our way
through the Tingri plain.
Throughout the day we can visit
a small gompa in Chholun. This
night will be spent in a
comfortable campsite in Lunthang.
This bleak region is home only
to herders and barley
harvesters.
DAY 07: Trek to Lamna-La:
The challenging trekking really
starts today as we ascend into
the mountains. Much uphill
walking is done as we climb
towards the top of Lamna-La.
Camp will be made right near the
top of this pass.
DAY 08: Trek to Zommug:
In the morning we descend
steeply into lush vegetation.
The only other people we will
encounter are yak herders and
their families. Camp will be
made in the small village of
Zommug. Truly amazing views can
be seen as the sun sets in this
barren town.
DAY 09: Trek to Rongbuk:
On our last day of trekking we
will wind our way to the end
destination of Rongbuk Everest
Base Camp. Along the way we can
also visit the Dza Rongbuk
monastery and Gompas. They are
truly ancient sites, but nothing
compared to our night camping at
Everest Base Camp.
DAY 10: Exploration Rongbuk
Glacier: Our eighth day will
be spent enjoying the barren yet
awe-inspiring surroundings of
the Everest Base Camp. It is a
life changing experience to
stare up into the world's
largest mountain.
DAY 11: Drive to Shegar:
As we leave the wondrous views
of Everest behind us drive a
short distance to Shegar. Along
the way we cross the Pang-La
pass, with more views of the
Himalayas. Tonight will be spent
in the comfortable Hotel
Quomolongma.
DAY 12: Drive to Shigatse:
Our day this day will be
spent along the Friendship
Highway as we cross the highest
pass of our journey, Gyatmso-La,
and head through Lhatse. We
continue on with a short drive
to Shigatse, the second largest
city in Tibet.
DAY 13: Sightseeing & drive
to Gyantse: Not a minute is
wasted as we have a full morning
of exploring the local markets
and Tashilungpo Monastery. It is
very intriguing to see how
ancient Tibetan culture compares
to the modern day culture we
will experience. We will be
given the opportunity of
experiencing more wondrous
Tibetan culture as we see the
Gyantse Dzong and Kumbum.
Expansive views of the valley
can be seen from the ancient
Dzong fort. The Kumbum is much
more than a stupa, as numerous
Tibetan murals and small chapel
houses surround it. Even if you
are no art connoisseur these
ancient murals and architecture
will amaze you.
DAY 14: Drive to Lhasa:
This day is an amazing day of
driving as we head towards Lhasa.
Numerous passes, such as Khambo
La and Kharo-La, provide
wondrous views of the Himalayan
range. A colossal glacier rises
nearly straight up from the road
as we pass Kharo-La. The
turquoise Yamdrok Lake. The
drive is no daunting task as we
pass through many more beautiful
Tibetan valleys and quiet
villages along the way. Our
final destination is a first
rate hotel in Lhasa.
DAY 15-16: Excursion around
Lhasa City: Our guided tour
will follow by visiting -
Jokhang Gompa - Jokhang is the
holiest Gompa in Tibet. Shuffle
among the pilgrims, butter lamps
permeating the air, and find
gruesome Gods in hidden annexes.
There is always a procession of
devout Tibetans through the
complex. After walking the holy
inner circle complete a circuit
of the Barkor, the market
surrounding the Jokhang, for
good luck. It is the best market
to shop for all things Tibetan.
Drepung and Sera Monasteries –
Sera is one of the best
preserved monasteries in Tibet,
renown for its lively debating
sessions in the courtyard each
afternoon. Within its
whitewashed walls and golden
roofs, several hundred monks
live and study. Drepung was
founded in the 14th century and
was once the largest Gompa in
the world. These days the figure
has been reduced to several
hundred, but there is still much
of interest to see here, as the
structure escaped relatively
unscathed during the Cultural
Revolution. Norbulingka -
Norbulingka is the summer palace
of the Dalai Lama and is in a
quiet and relaxing garden. One
particular mural inside depicts
the history of Tibet and all the
Dalai Lamas. Potala Palace - The
magnificent Potala Palace
dominates the city of Lhasa. It
contains the winter quarters of
the Dalai Lama, the
jewel-encrusted gold and silver
Stupas of previous Dalai Lamas
as well as numerous grand state
rooms and many important
chapels. There has been a palace
on this site since the 5th or
6th century, but the present
palace was constructed in the
17th century.
DAY 17: Lhasa to Gangkar
airport: We leave Lhasa
early in the morning for the 2
hour drive to Gonggar Airport
and our flight back to Kathmandu.
The Air China takes us right
across the main Himalayan range
and the mountain views are
spectacular.
DAY 18: Leisure day in
Kathmandu: This full day at
leisure to rest, relax or
explore the local area in
Kathmandu or do a bit of last
minute shopping. You also have
the option of doing some
sight-seeing. Evening will have
farewell meeting & dinner at
Nepali typical restaurant.
DAY 19: Departure day:
After breakfast you will have
some free time until the time to
leave the international airport
for your final departure. |
