General Policies while visiting in Tibet
-
You must be accompanied by a tour guide
while traveling in Tibet. He/she will
provide assistance in dealing with the
Chinese authorities at checkpoints en-route.
-
Tour itinerary and the places you plan to
visit in Tibet must be finalized in advance
and submitted in writing to the Chinese
authorities with your application for a
travel permit. According to the places
mentioned in the itinerary, we must obtain a
travel permit from the Tibet Tourism Bureau
(Lhasa).
-
Since there is no public transportation
available from Zhangmu to Lhasa, we must
rent a Land Cruiser / Jeep / Bus depending
on the group size. The cost will be shared
equally amongst the group members. The means
the more people there are in the tour the
cheaper the price.
-
You are not allowed to travel in Tibet with
an individual Chinese visa via Nepal (from
mainland China it is possible); you must
obtain a special visa for Tibet which will
only be issued by the Chinese Embassy in
Kathmandu. After Tibet, if you would like to
travel to mainland China, this visa will
allow you to enter but once you are in
mainland China this visa will need to be
replaced with an individual Chinese visa.
The normal process takes 5 working days. If
your time is limited we can obtain the visa
in a timelier manner by paying an express
charge. The visa section of the Chinese
Embassy is only open on Monday, Wednesday
and Friday from 09:30 am till 11:30 am
-
