Sikkim is a land that appeals to tourists from
all over the world with its graceful snow clad
mountain peaks, lush green valleys and the
pristine landscape. Sikkim is known to be a
favored destination for tourists who want the
best out of a holiday vacation. Various tourists
from all over the country visit Sikkim to take a
break from the polluted city air and experience
the rejuvenating climate in this virgin land.
Apart from the scenic beauty, Sikkim is famed
for its various lakes, the wildlife, and the
enchanting monasteries that collectively make up
tourism in Sikkim. The tourist attractions in
Sikkim include mountains, glaciers, and a varied
wildlife among its natural treasures, and
monasteries, temples and palaces among the
historic and religious places. The Fairs and
festivals of Sikkim are also popular tourist
attractions in Sikkim.
The beautiful state observes the five seasons,
winter, summer, spring, autumn and monsoon
respectively. Summer season prevails from April
to June and provides a fine time to enjoy the
blooming rhododendrons and orchids that grow in
the region. Summers are the ideal time to grab
the opportunity for trekking too. In the peak
summers, temperature can be soaring in the
valleys. The weather fluctuates with altitude
and varies from tropical in the low valley to
polar-like surroundings of everlasting snow and
ice in the elevated areas. Sikkim is one of
those rare states in India that receive regular
snowfall. Owing to intense altitude, you can
find tremendous discrepancy in climate and
vegetation of Sikkim.
During monsoons, the rivers and roads become
impassable. Sikkim is prone to land-slides, thus
it is not recommended to visit the state during
the monsoons. The monsoon season persists from
July to September. Though you can get rooms at
cheaper rates, a trip is not suggested. Once
again, by the time August ends the flowers
blossom. With the arrival of autumn, the skies
get clear and offer an invitation to come to the
marvelous lands of Sikkim. From the months of
September to December, the weather is perfectly
fine to take pleasure in Sikkim. During winters
(December end till February), it is extremely
cold out there, receiving perpetual snowfalls.
The roads and mountains get enveloped in snow.
In Toto, the best time to visit Sikkim is during
the months of March to June and from September
to December. Here is some information
introducing popular touring packages in Sikkim
but in fact there are much more. |
