Pokalde peak (5801m) is one of the easy trekking
peaks for climbing, which can be combined with
Everest Base Camp trek. From Lobuche the peak
looks interesting rising to the south of Kongma-La
(5,535m.) Pokhalde Peak (5849m) is situated
south-west ridge of Nuptse, was formerly called
Mehra Mt. Pokalde was first climbed in 1953 by a
route from the Kongma-La (5535m) along its
North-ridge and now also most people climb the
north ridge from the Kongma-La. It is also
possible to climb the South ridge. The mountain
lies to the east of the Khumbu Valley which
leads all the way up to Everest base camp.
Pokalde is around two or three miles from
Everest but the Lhotse ridge obscures the view
of the highest point on Earth from the summit.
