Horse back riding will gives you a unique
adventure journey in Nepal to make your holiday
enjoyable. One can enjoy the Horse riding in any
part of the country. No matter whether you want
a month long horse riding trek or a few hours of
galloping, all are available to suite your
needs. Langtang is towards the north of the
Kathmandu Valley and just south of the Tibetan
boarder. The Langtang valley continues west and
then north for another 50 kilometers beyond
Kyanjin Gompa. This is beyond the range of tea
house trekking, for there are no lodges. This
region was visited in the 1950s by TW Tilman,
who found rumors of Yetis amongst the local
herdsmen. Today, the upper Langtang region is
visited mainly by expeditions to Dorje Lakpa and
Shishi Pangma. The trek continues along a high
ridge for 6 days until it crosses the Laurebina
Pass. Just below the pass lies the Gosainkund
Lakes at (4300m). The Gosainkund lakes are the
object of the Shiva pilgrim trail for they were
once visited by Shiva himself. From here, the
path descends to Syabru, an interesting village
on the crest of a ridge. The trek now enters the
Langtang valley. The Langtang valley is sacred
and no animals may be killed here.
Langtang valley trekking begins from the lower
Langtang valley, through the forests and along
with the Sherpa villages and farmlands of the
people. Many villagers are originally from
Tibet. Once this route was an important trading
route with Tibet, therefore, most of the
villagers and peoples here still are involved in
trade. Finally the trek returns down the valley
to Syabru Bensi from where the bus can be caught
to Kathmandu.

Langtang Khola, this river we
will be following upwards for
the next couple of days. We
climb slowly to Dovan (1680m)
and continue over a rocky ridge
to Landslide Lodge and Hot
Spring restaurant; named after a
small hot spring on the opposite
river bank at 1810 meter. The
trail now climbs gently up to
Bamboo Lodge where we will enjoy
our lunch. Opposite the river we
will see near vertical cliffs
covered with cactuses. After
Bamboo we cross the Langtang
Khola on a new suspension bridge
to the north bank. The forest
becomes sparser and drier on
this side of the river,
consisting mainly of scrub oaks
and nettles. We climb steeply on
a good trail to Rimche (2510m).
We have now finished most of
thisday’s climbing and descend
slowly to Lama Hotel where we
will spend the night.
DAY 05: Lama Hotel to

with a gentle climb, but it soon
becomes steeper, climbing
through a forest of hemlocks,
oaks, maples and rhododendron.
Beautiful views of Langtang
Lirung (7246m) can be seen from

gradually, as the valley becomes
wider. We will pass a few
teashops at Thangshyap at 3140

lunch. The route is now in open
country, and passes many Mani
stones, water-driven prayer
wheels and a few scattered
Tamang villages before arriving
in Langtang which is the head
quarter for Langtang National
Park. This is a small village
consisting of guesthouses and
yak farms. The surrounding
fields containing buckwheat,
potatoes, wheat, turnips and
barley have typical stone
fencing walls.
DAY 06: Langtang Village
to Kyanjin Gompa: Walking
through the village of Langtang

walls, covered with Tibetan
inscriptions to please the gods.
It then climbs up gradually past
the small villages of Mumdu and

through yak pastures. After
crossing the Langtang Khola to
its south bank we climb up
through a landscape scattered
with large boulders to a moraine
where we will have the first
views of Kyanjin Gompa ahead of
us, and the dramatic icefall
flowing from Langtang Lirung and
Langtang Kinshung (6781m) north
of us. Our route weaves through
the large boulders to a Gompa
and from here it’s a short
descent to Kyanjin Gompa. It is
easy to reach our destination
before lunch, allowing time to
acclimatize and explore the
surroundings. One of the options
is a hike to one of the good
viewpoints. To the north of
Kyanjin Gompa is the Kyanjin-Ri
(4773m), which is a two-hour
climb. From here we have a great

same direction from Kyanjin
Village and takes around 5/6
hours to reach. Tserko-Ri is a
mountain for non technical
climbing and from submits you
can see lots of mountains from
Nepal and Tibet. In the same
way, Langsisa Kharka is a flat
ground offers you very close
views of lightening mountains in
front of your eyes.
DAY 08: Kyanjin Gompa to
