Recognized as one of the best trekking
destination, the Annapurna Base Camp trekking is
done on the hills of Annpurna South. This trek
leads you through rhododendron forests and over
the foothills of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri
mountains. This trek is specially designed for
those trekkers who love to enjoy the variety of
hilly flora and fauna, panoramic view of the
Himalayan range including Annapurna, Dhaulagiri,
Fishtail, Nilgiri, Tukuche Peak and other
Himalayan ranges. This is a classic trek, which
allows access to the high mountains of the
Himalaya within a reasonable timeframe and takes
you to maximum altitude of 4000m.
The trek begins in Pokhara and leads up through
the breathtaking Modi Khola gorge into the vast
mountain ringed amphitheatre. Trek passes
through bamboo and rhododendron forests with
superb views of the Annapurna range, pass
between the mountains of Machhapuchhre and
Hiunchuli, guard the entrance to the Annapurna
Sanctuary, and after 6 days reach the goal, the
high glacial basin that is the site of the
Annapurna south face base camp. Although the
trek has several ascents and descents, it is not
much difficult and you can get many alternative
routes to the sanctuary all that meet at
Chhomrung. This trekking route is A significant
trekking route with avalanche danger, so you can
get problems of snow and avalanches in winter
and early spring. You need to take plenty of
local information before doing this trek.
