Mt. Annapurna (I) Expedition

Mount Annapurna I (9091m/26,545ft) is the 10th highest mountain in the world which is located east of a great gorge cut through the Himalaya by the Kali Gandaki River in the Western part of Nepal. Annapurna was first climbed by Maurice Herzog of France in 3 June 1950 via North Face. There are four summits make up Annapurna with the entire massif forming a barrier on the northern side of the Pokhara Valley in Nepal. The main summit stands to the west of the Annapurna Sanctuary. It was the first eight thou-sanders to be climbed. Other major peaks in Annapurna: Annapurna II (7937m/26040ft), Annapurna III (7555m/24786ft), Annnapurna IV (7525m/24688ft) and Annapurna South (7219m/23684 ft).
